PET/CT Bone Scans Now At Ocean

- Ocean Medical Center is now performing PET/CT bone scans. PET/CT bone scans are more sensitive than the regular MDP bone scans in detecting osteoblastic, sclerotic, and lytic bone metastases. This enables doctors to better cater treatment plans to their patients. Since this is a relatively new imaging tool, PET scans will have to be submitted through the NOPR (National Oncologic PET Registry) for Medicare patients and authorized for most other private insurances. If you would like to schedule a patient for a PET/CT bone scan or have any general or insurance questions, please call the Department of Nuclear Medicine at 732-840-3387.
